Enogastronomic tour.

Day 1

Arrival at the international airport / train station in Lamezia Terme. Meeting with the hostess, who will welcome and transfer you to “Hotel Paradiso”. Time to relax and enjoy a welcome cocktail. Settle into your room.  Dinner will be served at our restaurant.


Day 2: Amantea, Nocera, Lamezia Terme

We will spend the morning hours shopping at the vibrant open market in Amantea, where you can buy local Artisan products and odd knick-knacks. We move on for a Wine Tour at Odoardi Vineyard in Nocera. Here we will discover the secrets and techniques used in winemaking.  Wine Pairings and light lunch to follow. In the late afternoon our Chef Mario Luna will impart an exciting cooking class at our restaurant "La Mimosa". The lesson will focus on the preparation of various typical dishes of Calabria, such as: Pomodori Secchi, Patè di Porcini e di Verdure, ' Nduja, Crespelle alle Acciughe, Frittelle di Verdure and other Calabrian Appetizers. Wine pairing and a Massive Appetizer Buffet to follow.

Day 3: Pizzo, Tropea

Visit to the "Tuna Callipo" establishment in Pizzo Calabro. Here we will learn about techniques used in the canning of tuna. Lunch will be at a typical restaurant of the region, and after lunch you can indulge with dessert of different flavored gelato, including the renowned "Tartufo di Pizzo.”The tour will continue towards Tropea, a town famous not only for its seaside resorts, but also for the cultivation of a particular quality of red onion (La Cipolla Rossa di Tropea ).  This onion has a stronger and sweeter aroma and the inner part is juicier and whiter than other red onions. A marmalade made of these red onions is used as spread on saltines and is combined with cheese during wine tastings. Shopping at " Tutto Tropea  di Giuseppe Russo". This location is filled with Artisan products made in the region. We will sample most of the products sold here.  

Day4: Lamezia Terme

Visit to an oil manufacturing mill where you will learn how olive oil is processed. We will also visit a factory specialized in making cheese and learn techniques needed to make cheese.  At the factory we will have a  cheese degustazione of different varieties.  In the late afternoon there will be another pleasant cooking class that will be based on first courses meals, namely, Pasta con Fagioli e Salsiccia, Tagliatelle della Nonna, Lasagne Casarecce, Risotto ai Frutti del Tirreno.

Day 5: Lamezia Terme

Visit to Baron Statti Estate Winery which is situated on 500 hectares of land. The Statti family has lived on this estate since the 1700’s. The above-mentioned estate can be considered a “business card” of this fascinating region that has always been dedicated to the production of wine. No coincidence that the ancient name of Calabria is "Enotria Tellus ", which means "land of wine”.After exploring the whole estate you can enjoy a tasting of top of the line local wines: “Cauro, Arvino, Mantonico, Greco and Nosside”. The classic line includes: “Gaglioppo Rosso, Lamezia Rosso and Bianco” and the so-called “Piacere Quotidiano” (Daily Pleasure): “Gelsi Rosso and Bianco, Bluette and Novello”. Some leisure time will be spent at the Shopping Mall " Due Mari"

Day 6: Amantea, Santa Maria del Cedro, Lamezia Terme

Visit to Marano Brothers Establishment located in the seaside city of Amantea. This establishment is renowned for its processing of figs and they also specialize in niche products such as chocolate and candied fruit. Moving along to the “Laboratorio del Gusto”, a taste workshop in the  town of Santa Maria del Cedro you can buy gastronomic products, such as jams, extra virgin olive oil, pastries and liqueurs all made of Cedro (Citron Fruit). On the site there is also a museum that is full documents, books and gadgets on this product. In the late afternoon there will be another mouth-watering cooking lesson at the Trattoria da Ugo who is the owner of a quaint restaurant located at approximately 200 meters above sea level. From this Trattoria you will have a spectacular view of the Gulf of St. Eufemia and the amazing Coast of the Gods.  The cooking course will consist of main courses and side dishes, such as: Baccalà e Patate, Salsiccia con Patate e Peperoni, Polpette di Carne Tritata, Melanzane Ripiene, Coniglio alla Cacciatora (Rabbit Cacciatore). Wine Pairings Included.

Day 7: Lamezia Terme

Visit to Lento’s Estate Winery, a DOC vineyard inherited by Salvatore Lento in 1963 and has belonged to his family for four generations. After touring this vineyard there will be a tasting of local products and wine pairings. The wines that come from this amazing winery consist of, "Contessa Emburga , Dragone Rosso, Federico II,  Greco Lamezia  and Lamezia Riserva.”
In the late afternoon, you will have your final cooking class which will consist of different types of pizza and desserts, such as Tiramisù, Chocolate Cake and Panna Cotta with Chestnut Cream. Farewell dinner with items prepared in class.

Day 8  

Continental breakfast and transfer to the airport.
